About Austin's Sewing Center

I am Teresa Packer, the owner of Austin’s Sewing Center.  I purchased Austin’s from founder Jerry Lulla in October of 2008 and I am so excited to continue the Austin’s 37 year tradition of quality sewing machines and service.  I like to say that Austin’s is your One-stop sewing machine center.    Centrally located in the Highlands district of Louisville, Kentucky at 2239 Taylorsville Road, just east of Bardstown Road next to Applebee’s with parking and an entrance off Wallace Avenue, our main store is only minutes from any location in Louisville and Southern Indiana.

We have 5500 square feet of shopping space which includes a beautiful classroom area, long arm room, large sewing machine display, a multitude of sewing and quilting notions, fabrics, embroidery software, and machine accessories.  Austin’s is probably best known for our huge selection of sewing and embroidery threads including brands Robison Anton, Isacord, Sulky, YLI, Maderia, Pacesetter, American & Efird, Superior, King Tutt, Maxi Lock, Gutterman, Mettler, Metrosene ,Luny, and Aurifil.  We also carry a variety of stabilizers for machine embroidery, quilting and heirloom fabrics, heirloom laces, along with interfacings and specialty items such as hot fix crystals, beading and silk ribbon.

There are many classes scheduled at our stores and we are constantly adding to the list.  We are an educational center with focus on garment construction, quilting, embroidery, and specialty techniques such as felting, fabric painting and cold water immersion fabric dying.  We are fortunate to have a very talented staff of teachers with years of experience and we bring in educators such as Juanita Yeager, Judy Kessinger, and Sue Wilson to add variety for our customers.   

We opened our second Location, Austin’s South in May of 2009.  It is located in Hillview off Preston Hwy. at 5406 Antle Drive in Preston Plaza.  We are excited to offer the Austin’s quality products and service to the Southern Jefferson County and Shepherdsville communities.

When you purchase one of our excellent Baby Lock or Pfaff machines you experience on-going support from our staff.  We offer private educational training on your new machine, group classes to stretch your creativity and help you fully utilize your machine, and we carry a complete line of accessories and soft ware for Baby Lock,  Pfaff and Singer.  We also service all brands of domestic and commercial machines on-site.
