SERGER: Baby Bunting
Use your serger to create wonderful and practical things for baby. Learn serger zipper application and steps for garment construction on the serger.
Student Supply List:
Pattern: B6364 any size desired
Fabric: As per pattern. Flannel can also be used-- add 1/8 yd for shrinkage plus 1/8 yd of knit for collar and cuffs
Zipper: 26” if available, otherwise 22”
Thread: 1 spool All purpose thread to match fabric
3 spools serger thread
Needles: Serger needles size 80/12
Scissors, pins and general sewing supplies
Rotary Cutter and mat
Serger foot: Piping or Cording foot for zipper application
Curve foot (optional)
Serger power cord
Serger accessories such as tweezers, thread caps and screw drivers
Serger caddy
Other helpful, but not required supplies or tools: Wonder clips, Snap setter kit
Pre-class preparations:
1. Prewash your fabric as you would care for the finished garment because fabrics, especially the flannel, can
shrink with the first wash. .
2. Cut the desired size from the pattern tissue.
3. Press the flannel if using and cut the garment according to the layout directions. If using flannel, cut the
collar and cuffs from the knit fabric.
4. Bring bunting pieces and fabric scraps to class.
