This class is for true beginners.  Pattern is included in class fee.  Please let us know which size you need.  Measure waist and hip of the person you will be sewing for to determine what size pattern you need.  Austin's has 1st quality fabric and supplies for your class.

Student Supply List

o   McCall’s sewing pattern #8056 (refer to pattern back for sizing, use your actual hip size when selecting your pattern size). Note that ready to wear sizing and pattern sizing are dramatically different. 

o   First Quality Fabric (see pattern back for yardage requirements).  Quilting Cotton is an excellent fabric for this project.  Please prewash your fabric and lightly press. 

o   First Quality polyester thread

o   ¾” wide elastic for waistband (1 Yard)

o   Sewing machine, power cord, foot control and owner’s manual.  Note that most manuals are available for download via brand website. 

o   Presser Feet:  Zig Zag (all purpose) and Buttonhole

o   Basic Sewing Supplies:  Sheers/Scissors, Seam Ripper, Seam Gauge, Measuring Tape, Straight Pins, Fabric Marking Pen/Pencil, Universal Sewing Machine Needle(s) size 12. 

Pattern Modification/Note to Students

o   We will make a fully elasticized waistband in class, rather than the combination elastic/tie waistband.  Lisa will share a demonstration on how to create a combination elastic/tie waistband during class.
